SSH Telnet
Learn more about SSH and how this easy protocol will give you the cabability to rapidly manage whole web servers.
Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange information between a website hosting server and a client. Since the information exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party won't be able to intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of handling a hosting account. The commands which could be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, for instance, the alternatives are limited since you'll not have root access to the machine, so you can simply create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so forth. These are all actions which are carried out inside the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll be able to set up server-side software or to restart the web server or just a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are a variety of apps for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
In case you have a
shared hosting account with us and you would like to handle your content remotely via SSH, you can get SSH access to the account using your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package deal doesn't come with this feature by default, you can add it with several mouse clicks through the Upgrades menu. In the SSH section of the Control Panel, you shall see the host, the port number and the username that you should use when you connect to the account. You may also pick what password you would like to use, since it doesn't need to be the same as the one for the account. We have prepared a lot of Help articles where you could find all of the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting package, plus examples of how they are used. Also, if SSH access is permitted for your account, you'll be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection through a standard client such as FileZilla, for example.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
SSH access is provided as standard with some of our
semi-dedicated server plans, while with others you are able to add it from the hosting Control Panel if necessary - even only for the current month. In either case, you can activate and de-activate the function with one click from the SSH section of the Control Panel. In the same place, you will find the server name, the port number and the username needed to connect to our platform. You'll also find a box where you can enter the password that you would like to use, because it does not need to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better security, you may also change it as often as you need. The full list of the commands that can be performed in a semi-dedicated account is supplied in our Knowledge Base, alongside the syntax and a number of examples. An extra feature after SSH access is activated shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client which supports this type of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Hosting
When you buy a new
virtual private server from us, it'll come with full root access and you will be able to connect to the server and to control everything through an SSH console. The function is provided by default with all packages, so you will not need to allow or upgrade anything. Your web server will be set up soon after you order it and the moment you receive the Welcome email with the login details, you could connect via the server’s main IP address and start working. As the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts inside the physical machine, there will be no restrictions with regards to the commands you can use. You shall have full root access, so you can install and run any app which can work on a Linux hosting server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot your entire machine or any software operating on it.
